Cape Vacation
Reviewed by Cape Vacationers on 7/29/2010
Other than staying at a home with its own private beach you could not get closer to the beach or ocean. It was a 100 foot stroll to the beach. The beach was one of the best I have seen - cleaned and raked each morning, well staffed, facilities nearby. Jetties that kept the ocean calmer and protected by Chatham down the road. The downside is as a public beach kids out of school would be out at night and could sometimes hear them late into the evening. The house itself is nice. Roomy enough with enough amenities to get by however it lacks air conditioning and the ocean breezes sometimes were not enough to cool the house down. That said it has been an unseasonably hot summer for the Cape and usually a/C is not needed. An umbrella on one of the patios with better patio furniture would be nice as well. The only complaint on the view are the trees and shrubs growing to the side of the house facing the beach. While they are nice for a bit of privacy on the first floor they partially obstruct what is otherwise a great view from the top deck. My only other real compliant is the sky light in the master bedroom. If you are a light sleeper prepare for your 5:30 am wake up call when the sun comes up. A shade there would make it nice and would help cool that room down a bit. A better ceiling fan in the bedroom and a few extra fans in the house in lieu of a/C would add a little more value especially on those hot humid nights or when it rains and you have to close the windows. It is those things that knock down my value and comfort ratings but for other people might not be a big deal. It is a very nice house overall. Harwich Port was great. Some fun restaurants in the village and close by. 10 minutes to Chatham and 20 minutes to Hyannis with plenty to do around there. New England vacation rental was great to deal with as well. We had an enjoyable stay and would consider it again.
